Internet Explorer Maintenance Settings Not Being Applied

F

faels

I have a GPO that I am using for a Terminal Server in our
organization. The GPO is being applied as expected except for
settiings under "User Configuration\Windows Settings\Internet Explorer
Maintenance" (e.g. branding, home page, etc.).

I have reset the configuration, imported a new inetres.adm, run
Network Monitor, enabled and viewed verbose GP logging, and more to
troubleshoot this problem. RSOP sometimes says that the setting
should be applied, and others claims that the settings are <disabled>.
I tried manually running the install.ins file created under the
policy folder, and the settings were still not applied.

I am racking my brains over this one, please help.

Just a word of advice, don't use IE Maintenance settings on your Default
Domain Policy, because it isn't possible to disable some parts of the IE
Maintenance policy once they are set.

I am not sure if this will help, but try enabling "Internet Explorer Maintenance
Processing" which is a computer configuration policy which means the computer it is
being applied to must be within the scope of influence of the policy. Look in
computer configuration/administrative templates/system/group policy. --- Steve

Hi,

You may use GPRESULT /V by following this Knowledge Base article:

321709 HOW TO: Use the Group Policy Results Tool in Windows 2000 --
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=321709

In addition, run GPMC on the clients to compare with GPRESULT. It seems
that the issue is like a known issue which is under investigate.

Have a nice day!
