Internet explorer is extremely slow

I have windows xp and the latest internet explorer
version, 6.0 with sp1. My computer runs very fast with
everything else that is on my computer (programs and
files) but when I open internet explorer, every thing
takes longer than dial-up to load. I have a cable modem
and according to the provider, the connection is good (did
a ping test) and the modem is transfering info as fast as
it should. I have run Spy-bot and Ad-aware removal
programs and I have Norton Firewall and Antivirus
protection and have found no viruses. The spyware removal
systems did find numerous spywares on my system, but after
removing them it has made no difference. Any info to help
me would be greatly appreciated, as my wife is getting
unhappy with (me) it.

Try to empty your temp internet files and set the buffer
size for max 10 Mb.
