Internet explorer blocking issues

I am using XP pro and IE6 or IE7 and I am having difficulties accessing
certain secured web sites on both IE 6 and 7. It seems that some of the site
will allow be to enter a user id and password, but will not let me download
information from the site once I have logged on. On some sites I can’t even
get by the log in screen.

What seems strange is that this happens only when the machine is connected
to a router (Linksys VR016). I have several other machines (also running XP
pro and IE6 and 7) connected to that router that can access these sites
without any problems.

If I connect the troubled machine directly to a DSL modem there doesn’t seem
to be any issues. Also, I have used the machine on other networks with a
Linksys Wireless router (although I used a cable to connect to the router)
without any issues.

I would suspect the VR016 router, but why would other older machines work
when a newer one won’t. I have also tried disabling the firewall on the
router and computer to no avail. I have set the security setting to low on
the troubled machine, but again it doen’t help.

Try running IE with no add ons.
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff

Try running IE with no add ons.
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff

And also try adding these (secure) websites to the Trusted Zone using *.
system, i.e. https://*.secure website.com
