Internet Explorer and Tiscali

Guest

I am having trouble connecting to Tiscali. Following the dial up message the
bubble appears showing I'm connected but Tiscali homepage fails to load. If I
click any where I get the message on the top of the scree (Internet Explorer
not responding) and no other application will work on my machine. After about
2 minutes it unfreezes and the home page loads. If I turn off IE but leave
the connection running, it loads first time without any problems.
Has anybody out there experienced this and no of a cure?

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStore) computer repair shop.

IE 6 using Windows XP

You are using the "Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000" thingy, which reqires a
browser. I find it rather clunky; and, in this case, it took a bit of
searching to get to the group because it is not in the menu trees shown by MS
Internet Explorer. But, having finally arrived here, I see that it is
possibly to reply to the post, and not just to the thread.

Replying to threads seems to be a "Web User" technique, and should not be
used in these help groups. Make your replies to the post, which will requote
what the poster has written, and allows you to add comments, as necessary.

For me, this is an unusual exercise. I normally use a news client (40tude
Dialog in my case, but MS Outlook Express can also be used).

try...

...apparently, Adobe Flash Player version 6 ..something... ... was
installed in my Windows XP Home Edition SP2 installation. I didn't see it
install, I wasn't asked to install it, but I would have thought Adobe Flash
Player 9 would have been installed.
After numerous problems using IE7 then a computer crash and a harddrive
format with Seagates Disk Wizard and a clean installation of Windows XP Home
Edition SP2 I went in search of a solution.
Following the instructions at the link I posted solved my problems...I
think. For now they have been solved for 3 days and quite a lot of computer
internet use.
I came here to see what I could find out and seeing some other people
having similar problems to the symptoms I experienced before the computer
crashed. Now I feel I am looking for a proverbial guinea pig to test the
theory that Flash Player was the culprit.
I do think Flash Player was the culprit. There were Flash Player version 6
files in the Macromedia folder in the Windows32 folder which is in the
Windows folder and Flash Player version 6 files are mentioned in the webpage
at the link I posted above which contains a solution to IE having problems
like I was experiencing.

probably nothng unless you see my post appear below the first post.

Considering that I am not having any trouble to begin with...
