Every time I try to X out of IE I get a message saying IE has encountered a
problem and needs to close---send or don't send report. also when i try to
close out of pop up boxes very much like this one I get the same message.
Does anyone have a fix to this very annoying problem?

Hi,
You may have an incompatible browser add-on.
See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
for troubleshooting information.

The troublesome program may not show up as an add-on. Disable other
security, privacy, ad-blocking programs to see if one of them is causing the
problem.

A firewall will probably not be causing this problem, but turn on the
Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall before disabling a
third-party firewall or security suite.

Or, this may be a malware problem- adware, spyware, hijacker, trojan, etc.

Hi Zena

I also have the same problem - very annoying! I am also trying to download
Visual Studio Express but IE craches as soon as I click on the download
button - did you have any luck with Don's suggestions?

Hi Dom,
What's the URL please? Is there an error message? Have you tried disabling
add-ons?

For download problems, a good first step is to delete the Temporary Internet
Files.

Hi Don

URL is http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/ then click on the download
for VB 2005 Exxpress.

Yes there is an error message - same as Zina notes above - ie the standard
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and has to close down" then an
option to send or don't send a report to Microsoft

I have cleared all temporary files.

I have disabled a IE add-ins.

I have turned off all McAfee firewalls, virus checking etc.

I am working through the rest of your list but it takes time!

Thanks very much for your interest and help

Dom

Don,
I followed your recommendations. I went to Parasite Fight, quick Fix.
It says there to uninstall Viewpoint. I looked at what Viewpoint is or does
and it doesn't seem bad. Do you have any info on that? thanks, Gary
