When this happens - does your machine not have connectivity - but the cable
modem seems fine?
How does the cable modem connnect to your computer? Directly through
ethernet, directly through USB or indirectly through a router via ethernet?

What happens if you - when you have this 'problem' - unplug the cable modem
from power, wait about 60 seconds, plug it back in and then go back to your
computer and try to use the Internet?

What happens if you - when you have this 'problem' - press the "Start"
button, select "Run", type in "cmd ipconfig /release" (without the quotes)
and click OK and wait 60 seconds... Then press the "Start" button, select
"Run", type in "cmd ipconfig /renew" (without the quotes) and click OK and
wait 60 seconds and then try to use the Internet?

What happens if you - when you have this 'problem' - press the "Start"
button and type in "cmd /k ipconfig /all" and then you note the IPAddress it
says you have in the command prompt that opens (write it down on a piece of
paper with a pen/pencil) and in that command prompt, type:

ping www.google.com

and press ENTER and note the four responses you get (write down on the piece
of paper.) Let us know what you wrote down - but know you should ONLY do
this (right now) when you experience the 'goes off'.

What we are trying to determine is if this is a computer issue or a cable
issue. It is very likely that you have a computer problem that is killing
your connection - particularly if - in the past - you have merely rebooted
your computer when experiencing the problem and each reboot brought your
Internet 'back' for some period of time. You could be infested with
spyware/adware/malware, you could have a virus/trojan, your hardware drivers
may need to be updated or you could have a hardware issue...

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the modem ?
