I just installed XP Professional on my computer and I am unable to connect
to the internet. My connection is cable and I have access to wireless.

You might need updated drivers for your NIC, Ethernet card, or wireless
hardware (if you currently use wireless to connect to a router on the
cable connection, and your statement about having wireless wasn't just
an alternative source statement).

Here are a couple of things to try.. they're usually suggested if you
can get email, but not browse the web:

_Flush_DNS_

Click Start, Run, type:

IPConfig /FlushDNS [Press Enter key]

_NETSH_

Click Start, Run, type:

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter key

Restart the system

You can also try this software download from a working machine:

Did you install the drivers for your network/wireless card? If not that
would be the solution.

Or did he install and configure his TCP/IP stack correctly:

Right-click on My Computer, choose Properties, then Hardware and Device
Manager.

Do you see yellow exclamation marks here? If so, you just didn't install
the drivers properly. Do that now and you should be OK.
