Difficulty connecting

I've just rebuilt my PC - XP Pro plus office 2003 and Norton Security 2004.
I connect to the internet using a G604T either by cable or wirelessly.

I'm unable to connect to BT Internet using a cable connection although
wireless is OK. Also I'm unable to collect virus updates by either method.
I was unable to register my Office 2003 when connecting by cable and was
successful wirelessly. Could it be that a port is blocked? How do it solve
the problem, please?

Check your application settings in Norton Security. If you see nothing
unusual, try connecting BT Internet.
