Internet connection not available

Everytime I go to open internet explorer after it's been
closed and sitting for about a half hour or so the "Work
Offline" box opens with it's message that no internet
connection is available. There are buttons in the box for
working offline or Try again. The browser opens with no
problem when you click try again, but this is becoming
anoying. How do I get it to just connect upon opening?

I have already checked this and the "Globaluseroffline" is
at 0. Any other suggestions? This may or may not have
anything to do with it, but MS Office 2000 was installed
about the same time this started.
