"Internal function returned an error" in Sending email

When sending CERTAIN emails, I get the error:
"Internal function returned an error"

I have been unable to identify why and have searched all
of Microsoft KB for an insight. Does anyone know what is
happening

To rule out the obvious: do you have virus scanning
software scanning your outgoing mail? It might be
experiencing an error.

Second: maybe you do have an add-in (authorized or not)
that's scanning your outgoing messages. Where do you get
the error? In an e-mail message, or in a popup error msg?
