Intermittently receiving and sending email text as rectangular box

Using Outlook 2003, some email recipients seem unable to read the body of the
message as it appears as a series of rectangular boxes. (Each letter is a
box), although others can read it perfectly well. Sometimes I also receive
the email text this way. If I cut and paste the text into Word I can read it.
I am using an email signature with a gif (company logo), so I don't know if
that has something to do with the problem.
Any suggestions to resolve this?
Thanks

In addition to Diane's reply;
Which font did you use to compose these emails?
Does the same happen when you use Arial?

Thanks for your response.
The gif used in the logo and appended as a signature is in 'tunga' font, and
we have used the same font in the email text for continuity.
Will change the font within the body of the email to arial and see if that
resolves the issue.

Tunga is not a Latin based font so in order for people to receive messages
in that font, they also must have support for that font installed and
additionally might require Unicode support as well. I believe later releases
of the font do contain Latin based characters but if the receiver does not
have that version of the font installed, then he/she will see empty squares
instead.

I don't know where you're from so this could be intentional. If not, you
should use a font that is Latin based.
