instead of opening office all the way up, how can I have a new do.

When I open microsoft word, for example, instead of all the button pushing is
there a way to have it automatically open a new document, instead of having
to go through all the pushing bottons. I know on the older version you could
open and close a document by clicking the X in the upper right corner of the
document. Any help would be appreciated. I have numerous documents that I
have to do and I really don't want to be bogged down with the pushing of the
buttons. I was using Office 2000 but now have Office 2007.

Thanks.

You could never open a Word document by clicking on the X. I don't
understand "all the button pushing" comment. I double-click my Word icon and
I have a new blank document. If I want a specific document opened, I either
click on a shortcut for it (if it's one I use often) or I browse Windows
Explorer and double-click on the file name.

If Word is already open and you want a new blank document, there are
two quick ways:

- Press the Ctrl+N shortcut (think 'N for New').

- Put the New command on the Quick Access Toolbar. The fast way to do
that is to click the Office button, right-click the New command in the
menu, and choose "Add to Quick Access Toolbar" from the popup. After
that, you can just click the button on the Quick Access Toolbar to get
a new document.

This is true of most of the commands in Word 2007 -- if you use it
often, put it on the Quick Access Toolbar.
