How to put a template in "New Office Document" in the start menu?

I made a Word template that I want to access in the "New Office Document"
area.

When you select Start-> All Programs, then at the top of all the programs
you can select, there're choices for "New Office Document" and "Open Office
Document." When you select "New Office Document" I want my template to be
under the General tab. Then when you choose the template and subsequently
save it, I want it to save as a .docx file in My Documents.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Save the template in the user templates folder. You can determine the
location of that folder by clicking on Word Options in the bottom border of
the dialog that appears when you click on the Office button and then click
on Advanced and then scroll down to the File Locations item.
