Instant Messaging inside a LAN.

I would like to find a simple program that lets a LAN
do instant messaging without having to have internet
access. I don't want to use Live Communications Server.
It is a small office that needs something really simple.
They are all running 2000 workstations inside a 2000
Domain.

Have you tried WinChat? Run > Winchat. To open a session, a user might first
use "net send" at a command prompt to alert user at the target to enable/run
the Winchat application.

You might want to write a batch file that automatically net sends to a
target user and launches the winchat window. Rename batch to identify user.

How about netweeting using ip_address in the event your ip_addresses are
static?

At our office we use WinMessenger. Works with
all W9x, W2K and XP. It has very nice, "native" user interface under
Windows XP and drop-down list with users...

Really nice tools and I'm strongly reccomend you to try it. It can be
downloaded from http://www.winpopup.com
