Installsheild problem when installing apps on Vista

G

Guest

I just got a new PC with Vista and am getting used to it. I got updated apps
for vista and several of them...when I try to install....I get installshield
errors: "Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Run Time".
I THINK I see a hotfix on MS website...But, you have to call to get it....for
some reason, it doesn't like my code...although it is accurate. So, in the
meantime...any ideas on how to fix this issue?

It was very nice of you to include this link...however, I am unable to use it
or I am just plain stupid. As a new biz owner, I confess I am a helpless
desk....I also need this hotfix...when I click your link it states to request
from the KB article...on the KB article there is no link to hotfix request. (
HMMMM...)

I have tried every step in the Knowledge Base article and have wasted hours
and hours of my life that I cannot get back....

Any advice or suggestions would be great...for someone who never planned on
being the CIO or even the HD Manager.

Thanks, Suz

Hi,

I was trying to provide you with a method of obtaining the hotfix you
referred to in your initial post:
I THINK I see a hotfix on MS website...But, you have to call to get it...

You didn't specify which article you were looking at, so I'm as lost as you
are in what to ask for. I found this article that speaks to your error
message, but does not list any hotfix, just a workaround:
