Hello All,
I just went to the store and purchased the upgrade version of Professional.
The reason I did is because I got a copy of Pro from a friend and it keeps
telling me that the copy on my computer is not genuine. I was wondering if I
can do a clean install from an upgrade disk or do I have to re-install XP
Home, then do the upgrade.
I thought the copy from my buddy was a legit copy!!! He did not charge me
for the program.
I have not talked to him in quite a while. He moved and I lost contact with
him to find out if the copy he installed on my pc is genuine. So I purchased
the software so that I don't have the MICROSOFT POLICE come knocking on my
door.
I guess what I am asking is, can I format my C: drive and install XP Pro
from the upgrade cd? I want to remove any non-genuine Microsoft programs and
start over from scratch. I paid $199.00 for the upgrade. The full version
cost $299.00
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate the input.
