Installing Windows Fax

Bill

Hi I posted this in the printers/fax newsgroup and got no response, so I'll
try here....

I am running XP Pro, fully updated, (yes my modem is capable of faxing) and
am trying to install the built-in fax service. I used to have it installed
on this
same installation of Windows and removed it for lack of needing it....well
now I need it again and when I go through the installation process (control
panel>add/remove programs>add/remove windows components>place a checkmark in
the box next to the fax listing and click next, it goes through the
installation wizard and tells me it completed succesfully, but afterwards
there is
nothing for fax listed anywhere (it's listed in the printers section if I
remember correctly, someone correct me if I'm wrong) also if I go back into
add/remove windows components
the fax services is UN-checked as if I never installed it. What gives? Any
help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Start>All Programs>Accessories>Communications>Fax
You may need to reboot after installing it. I'm not sure about that. It
should be there, minding its own business like a good little application.
