i recently installed windows Xp as a separate operating
system. i am also having windows 2000.
few days back i screwed up windows 2000 and now i cant
run windows 2000.
is there a way to install windows 2000 again without
intalling windows xp again. because the last time i
installed windows 2000 i had to re-install windows xp
also because the boot option of windows xp was not shown
on start up

i have windows 2000 on drive c:\
and windows xp on drive d:\

This becomes very easy once you are aware of how things
hang together.

The "boot option", as you call it, is controlled by the hidden
file c:\boot.ini. If you want to be safe, copy this file to some
other location, then restore it later if necessary.

A successful boot into WinXP depends on the hidden files
c:\ntldr and c:\ntdetect.com. Win2000 will replace them with
its own version. So, before installing Win2000, save these
two files somewhere else, then do your job, then restore the
two files. You could also restore them from the i386 folder
on your WinXP CD.

As I said, it's quite simple!
