Installer Directory

To avoid confusion, I am not talking about the Installer program (which I
have noted is giving some problems after SP2).
I am talking about the Window\Installer directory.
In my particular case, I have noted that several msi and msp files, are not
only duplicated, but even triplicated (with different names, off course).
Programs which have been uninstalled successfully for permanent or temporary
reasons, do not delete their installer file, then in the case of a
reinstall, a new one is created. This directory is slightly above one gig
presently....And to mention just one item, I installed a NASA program which
once deploy, was a whapping 878 Mb. The installer was 523 Mb....It was
satisfactorily uninstalled, because it was beyond the capability on this
machine, but the installer file was still there.
Is there a procedure or program that might help finding the useless
installer files?.
The msi and msp files sometimes give a clue of their parenting at the
properties. The long numbered directories parenting can be seen in their
registry keys, and they certainly are deleted when the program is
uninstalled.
Any solution?
Your most expert advice will be appreciated.
Thanks and cheers.
