"Setup could not verify the integrity of the inf file. Make sure the
Cryptographic service is running on this computer.". It was running....
This is the message that I got from 5 SP2 hotfixes for XP/SP1 out of 26 that
I was reinstalling after a repair reinstal of the OS. Those hot fixes refuse
to instal. The rest of them installed with no problems.
They were:
q328310
q329170
q339834
q810577
q815021
They were redownloaded with same results when attempted to reinstal.
Recently and prior to the XP repair, I had run:
"D:\WINDOWS\system32\systeminfo.exe /FO list > c:\info\sysinfo2.txt" from
CMD.
Comparing the old and new listings it was very revealing.
Thou they were not listed as hotfixes as before, they were present as
updates, probably from some cumulative patch.
Hoping this experience might save some time and grief to others.
Cheers
