You should really consider a new line of work... You always assume... and
incorrectly I might add. No I do the installations correctly you need to
comprtehend what is written. I know all about the way it is supposed to be
installed, some of us do this for a living, not just in our SPARE time...

Had you done the upgrade correctly, I am sure you would not be
experiencing any crashes or errors. Out of curiosity, which method did
you use? And what is the make and model of your laptop? What kind of
processor does it have?

I installed SP3 via Automatic Update a few hours ago, and after
rebooting the computer for the changes to take effect, now Windows
won't load at all. BIOS loads and then I get the error "A DISK READ
ERROR OCCURRED. PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL TO RESTART" When I restart, the
same thing happens.

This can happen if you do not have a barebones setup for the upgrade. If
you have anything connected to the PC, e.g., a USB external hard drive
(there's a strong chance that *that* is the disk referenced in the
message), make sure you disconnect it. Now reboot. If that doesn't help,
uninstall SP3 via Add or Remove Programs. Although the disk read error
may indicate coincidental hardware malfunction, it's too suspicious that
your problem occurred immediately after upgrading to SP3.

I just love it when people pat themselves on the back and say they are an
expert.

"Expert" is a descriptive adjective used by *OTHERS* when speaking about
***SOMEONE ELSE***!

You did the upgrade incorrectly...

It should be mentioned that Randem is not the OP here, "theredbaron" is and
he's not been heard from since 29 Nov-08.
