Installed SP2

I have Windows XP and installed sp2. My computer crashed
and could not enter windows. A split second flash of a
blue screen while loading and then rebooting. So I went
into safe mode and uninstalled the pack.
Why did this happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could have lost everything.
