After installing WindowsXP service pack 2 and rebooting,
my Outlook Express icon and program were deleted from my
hard drive. In addition, I am missing my email address
book. I use this program to collect mail from 3 seperate
email accounts and would like to have the program
restored. Can someone please assist me in solving this
problem? Many thanks.

Was your anti-virus application disabled when you installed SP2? Was
Outlook Express? Search in Explorer for MSIMN.EXE: This is Outlook Express.

In WindowsXP, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as
hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files
and Folders under Start>Control Panel>Folder Options>View. Search in
Explorer for " *.wab " or " *.wa* " (w/out the quotes). The results will be
all Address Books on your system. A file ending with WAB~ is the backup OE
automatically creates and maintains for you.

First, see http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx. If OE opens to an essentially
empty, new identity, Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store folder will reveal the
location of your current Identity's store. Write it down.

In Explorer, search for .DBX files. Any found which are not located in your
current store will most likely be those from your previous identity. You
can Import them using File>Import>Messages>....
