Installation problems

I had a problem this morning which meant MSAS wouldn't run so decided to
remove and reinstall.

After reinstalling from a fresh download on the MS site, MSAS wouldn't run
because it said the version had expired on 31/12/2005.

Looking through the posts I tried Engel's suggestion using ccleaner in safe
mode etc, but after the reinstall it still failed again saying it had expired.

I set my computer date back to the 01/12/2005 which allowed MSAS to run and
the diagnostic output showed I was running version 615 ? which is despite
downloading from the MS site and using the link Engel provided to version 701.

Whilst scratching my head for about the 10th time trying to think what to do
MSAS popped up saying there is an updated version available do you want to
download it. I said yes and I now successfully have version 701 running with
the date set back to 31/12/2005.

So it looks like the download from MS isn't 701, but an earlier version.

Same issue for me here as well, can't install the updates to the AntiSpyware
and the GenuineCheck program fails as well (as does its updated version).

Ran into the same problem.

Depending on how you go through the Wndows Validation process, you get a
different installate file downloaded. If you manullay validate your version
of windows, the downloaded file size is 6700KB. The file when using the
ActiveX control validation is 6749KB.

When the 6749KB file is installed, version 710 of AntiSpyware is then
reported, and the expiry date is shown as 31 July 2006.

When the 6700KB file is installed, the version does not update and
antispyware doesn't start.

Looks to me that a simple change control error at the MS end has resulted in
the download file on their servers not being updated.

I also had to set my clock back to get this all to work.

Wishing you all lots of luck.

Not true, I just installed using the ActiveX method and it failed with the
31 Dec 2005 error. Newly built machine. (What a way to spend the early hours
of the new year, Happy New Year everyone).

Same problem. I turned my clock back, and used the update withing the
programme. It updated the spyware def to 5789, but the software is still V615
expiring 31/12/05 despite a message saying it had been updated sucessfully.

What do we do now? Turn the clock back every time we want to run the
programme?

BTW happy new year from a 42 deg C down under.

Cheers,

Peter,

When I did this, I didn't run the update programme myself, I got a popup
saying there is a new version of the software available do you want to
install it ? And that is how I ended up with the latest version.

My popup did that too, but sent me to the MS webpage, which in turn wanted
me to run the genuinecheck program.
