Installation of new hardware and change to user accounts

Just installed HP Scanner#4070 and supplied software. Notice during
installation that it installed NetFramework. What is this for and do I need
it? I was the only user on my machine and did not have to log in before
installing this product and its software. Now I have to click my user ID.
And going to user accounts, there is a new user account set up:"ASP.Net
Machine" which is a limited account and is password protected. I never set
up a password. What is this all about? Please advise. If I can delete I
suppose I need to know the password, but I never set one up it did
automatically when I installed the software with the Hp scanner. Thank you

The Asp.net account was created when theh Netframework was installed.
Leave that account be - it doesn't cause any problems. I don't know for
sure but I would guess you do need the .net framework to run the scanner
software, otherwise it wouldn't have been installed.

You can regain an auto logon if you want. 1. Go to Start | Run and type
in: control userpasswords2 | Ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password
To Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user
name and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you
start your computer.

You can accomplish the same thing by:

Download and install tweakui for xp and use its auto logon feature.

Lastly you can add the Dialog box that comes up when running control
userpasswords 2 to the Control Panel with the following tweak:

Add Control User Passwords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Hi,

You can delete the asp.net account, the .net framework is responsible for
creating it. Why HP's software needed it depends on what its functions are,
though I haven't seen that before.

To return to an autologon: Click start/run, type "control userpasswords2"
(without the quotes) and click ok. Uncheck the box requiring a username and
password, click apply/ok and follow the prompts to set up a default logon.
