Installation issues with linksys router

..Net is required to run Norton Ghost so, 2 days ago, subsequent to a Norton
Ghost 9.0 install I installed .Net along with it's service pack. I use a
linksys router (wrt54gs) for internet, file and print sharing and noticed a
slowdown in throughput internet speed immediately. Eventually, after a day
or so, my router malfunctioned completely (no solid "Link" light bar) and,
after trying umpteen fixes, I uninstalled .Net and everything is fine. I'd
like to use Ghost and would appreciate any feedback on fixes or workarounds
for my situation.

Did you also install XP SP2 or maybe a firewall program? Or maybe some
spyware? I'm wondering if the problem isn't .Net but Norton or something
else.
