Installation failed after "completing upgrade" setupact.log file

I have had my installation fail a number of time near the end of the process
during or after the "completing upgrade" portion. I found these two warning
lines at the end of my setup log right before the computer began a rollback
to Windows XP:

2007-01-26 03:02:44, Warning [0x0808fe] MIG Plugin
{401F8281-A9B6-49F9-9F71-8AEA167EEEFD}:
d:\vistartm\admin\wmi\wbem\migration\apply.cpp@139, HRESULT: 0x80041010
2007-01-26 03:02:44, Warning [0x0808fe] MIG Plugin
{401F8281-A9B6-49F9-9F71-8AEA167EEEFD}: Applying object
"\\XPSDESKTOP\root\SECURITY:__NTLMGroup.Authority="BUILTIN",Name="Administrators"" failed hr == 0x80041010

Any thoughts as to what caused this problem and what I can do about it to
have a successful installation?

Do you use the MIG calendar application, or TinyOS (which also has a MIG
plugin)?

I suspect that it's a problem with one of your programs not being compatible
with the upgrade. A clean install would probably fix it (but you'd have to
install all your programs manually).

Please be aware that there's not a whole bunch of programs available that
are certified to work with Vista. That will increase greatly after Tuesday,
but until then we're stuck with what's out there.

I don't think it is any of those kinds of programs. I had to look up what
they were to even know if I had any of them. Could Java play a role in this
error? Any thoughts from others on these errors?

Anything that monitors the system, such as an antimalware program, or a
virus can cause this by locking the registry keys that the installer needs
to write in order to complete the installation. Consider saving your files
and settings with the WET wizard and starting fresh with a clean install of
XP. Be sure to do a virus check on the WET file before restoring once Vista
is installed.
