Installation Error - Can't Write Registry Value

When I try to install Windows Defender 1593 I get error: "Could not write
value Windows Defender to key
\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run". Verify that you have
sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." If I click
Retry, the message just reappears. If I click Ignore, the install fails and
rolls back.

I am installing from an account with admin privileges and have had no
problems installing software in the past from this account. I tried another
account with admin privileges and it failed ther as well.

From one cat to another. Did you uninstall your previous version of Windows
Defender before attempting to install 1593? I think you have to do that
first!!!
