Install win XPProfessional (Full) to Win2000 Prof.

Marty K

According to the readme file that came on the WINXP CD
I can install XP (full not upgrade version) over a win2000
system. When I try to do this setup tells me that I
can't upgrade win2000 but must do a clean install.

I started compatibility check and was quickly informed that
I could not upgrade win2000 to XP.

I there a way to install the full version without
doing a clean install?

I'm looking for a way to do this without having to
reinstall all my applications. A very tedious process
as most of you know.

Thanks
Marty

Apparently you acquired an "OEM Version" of Windows XP Professional.
OEM versions cannot upgrade an existing Windows installation. Only
"Retail Versions" can upgrade. Either purchase a Retail Version of XP Pro
or reformat your drive to install the OEM version "clean".

Thanks for the response... . I was afraid of that.
So will set aside some time to do this.
