Install shield not allowing removel

I have had some problems with a particular programme and
wish to uninstall/reinstall.When I go to add/remove
programs and try,I get the message "install shield (R)
set up has encountered a problem and needs to close" How
can I get around this and remove my program...Thanks, Paul

ps..I am using xp pro and the particular program is Ulead
DVD Player .

Sometimes the uninstall information is damaged or missing. You could try
reinstalling the program in the hopes of rebuilding that info and then try
an uninstall.

Or a portion of the program may be active: End the program and uninstall.
Or, if listed in Task Manager, you can right click and select End Process.
Then uninstall. Or, restart to Safe Mode and uninstall.

Some programs can just be plain difficult to remove. In these cases, check
with the vendor for technical advice on removing their application. If no
luck, you'll need to remove manually. Since it can be very difficult to
find all of the pieces, files in multiple locations and many registry
entries, this is a last resort.
