install over none activated xp

Can I reinstall XP over an existing pc with xp2 installed but not activated
because it was installed on another computer. Have since bought a full
version of xp and do not want to go through wizard as it is to much $ online.
Or should I just reformat or buy new hard drive and start with new install.

The quick answer is yes.

If you have an existing XP [not activated] and want to register it with the
new Product Code then just click on Activation and use the new code.

If you have a newer version of XP [say SP2] then install it over the old
version: no problems.
