Insert Word File into Outlook

I have a Word 2003 file that is standard text I send to a group of people
once a week via email. Normally I click in the body section of the email
and Insert File. When I navigate to the Word file location, I choose to
Insert As Text and the text of the message appears in the body of the email.

Suddenly (don't you just love that?!?!?!) the text is appearing in the email
as 6 or 7 unidentifiable characters. When I highlight the text in the
email, it is identified as Arial 12 point. When I check the Word file, it
is perfect.

This happens whether the email is formatted as HTML or Rich Text or Plain
Text.

Any idea what has happened???

Are you using Word or Outlook as the email editor? Does changing it make a
difference?
Note that you can also directly mail from within Word. Press the Envelope
icon op the Toolbar.

Word is the email editor, but that hasn't changed.

Until I figure this out, I'll either email directly from Word, or I'll copy
and paste. Just cannot imagine why I can't seem to use the insert file as
text option any more.

Insert As Text means Outlook will need to interpret the file first. There
could be some changes in your normal.dot file that Outlook can see as a
character but Word doesn't. What you can try is renaming normal.dot to .old
and create a new document based on that template. When you insert that
document as text now, do the strange characters still show now?
