insert sheet tab is not functioning and can't add new sheet

I can find no way to add a new sheet to an existing workbook. The "insert
sheet" function is disabled, and protection is off. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lo

Which protection is off?

Sounds to me like Tools>Protection>Protect Workbook is enabled.

Do the following.

1. Click on "Tools" menu.
2. Choose Protection.
3. Choose "Unprotect Worksheet" and "Unprotect Workbook".
4. Also in Tools Menu, click on "Share Workbook" and check who has the exclusive access or sharing might needs to be done or removed depending upon situation.
