Insert Fle Detail information

I have many music folders with MP3 files. I can add fields like Category and
Artist
using Windows Explorer > View > Choose Details.
Now, how do I enter the data in the newly added fields for each file?
Thanks

The Comments column in Detail view can be any width, but only about 78
characters of any Comment will display.

You can only add information to comments. And some files will not let you
add any comments.

[[To add a comment to a file

1. Right click a file.
2. Click Properties.
3. On the Summary tab, type your comment in the Comments area.
-or-

On the Summary tab, click Simple, and then type your comment in the
Comments area.

Notes
To display the comments you add to files, double-click the folder that
contains the files you want to view. On the View menu, click Choose Details,
and select the Comment check box, and then click OK. On the View menu, click
Details to see comments for several files at once, or select a file and
click Details in the left pane to view the comment for the selected file.]]

Right click on the file and choose properties. On the "summary" tab, press
the "advanced" button. (If the button says "simple", you are already where
you need to be. Now highlight the value you wish to change and click under
the "value" column and enter the info.

Yes, That worked. Thank you both for the guidance. It is, however, a lot of
steps for a seemingly simple task.

The info you are editing is stored in the "ID3" tag. There are many free ID3
tag editors out there that will simplify the task. There are also many mp3
rippers that will download the data automatically when you rip your cd.
Google "ID3 tag editor".
