Infrared sync of Palm PDA

For some time I have been synching my palm with my laptop
using the infrared port (my cradle failed long ago), and
the sync quit working with Microsoft Outlook, and now has
quit working all together. I can't seem to get it fixed.
Help.

Is your Palm at least making the IR connection?
Hotsync working - does it display anything on your desktop when you try to
hotsync from the Palm?
Presuming that both the above are fine, what are you using to sync with
Outlook - Chapura? Intellisync? Native Palm Outlook sync (for newer Palm
models only)? And what do you see in your hotsync logs on the Palm, and the
desktop?
