Increase Registry Size

I have a windows 2000 machine. I recently did windows
updates, and it gave me an error that I needed to increase
registry size. How do I go about doing this and why do I
need to?

To increase registry quota Control Panel|System|Performance|Change, then
under "Registry Size" you can set the value to a higher number.
