Incomplete Startup

Windows keeps hanging up on start up after loading personal settings it shows
my wallpaper then hangs. I have no taskbar or desktop icons. I can call up
the task manager and log off and can even run applications from the run
screen but no matter how many times I reboot I still don't get the taskbar or
desktop icons. Help!

Hi,

Your profile might be corrupted. Try creating a new one and if it works,
just copy your data from your old profile to the new one. Take a look at the
following article:

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile

If everything works the same in the new profile, try running your computer
in Safe mode or Selective Startup to isolate the problem.

Hope you can help me!

I have the same problem and more.
I can't restart in safe mode, last known good configuration and all the
other options in F8 nor can I reinstall Windows XP, it seems like nothing is
loading. With "Control+Alt+Delete" I have the option to restart but get
message that explorer.exe does not respond, when I terminate...nothing.
I was having problems in Explorer before this happened.
Help!!
