I am studying the Semantic Web. I bought Student Office in aprticular to be
able to save files as web pages to put on my web site. However I was most
dismayed to find in the accompanying booklet that XML features except SAVE
were excluded. Why on earth should that be?

I will manage with alternatives.

I believe that like the Standard Edition of Office, the Student & Teacher
Edition contains Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. The Basic Edition
doesn't even have Powerpoint.

Only the Professional Edition of Office 2003 that contains the bulk of the
XML functionality.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for!

Why would you need the XML features in order to create web pages? Web pages
are HTML, not XML. And all types of Word come with the full spectrum of tools
to save as HTML.
