inaccurate unread mail count at windows xp login

G

gardenerstouch

After a fresh wipe and reinstall of XP Pro sp2... for some reason, the
unread mail count displayed on the login screen has been frozen itself at
19.

How do I get this count to read correctly? Failing that, how do I get to
just go away?

Hi

You can get rid of that message:

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and
when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go
to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail message can be disabled via the Registry -
navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Youremailaddress]
- double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change
the value to 0(Zero).
