Hello! My Windows XP SP2 based PC has a problem for which I've not yet found
an answer (and I've been researching this for a while).
When I add a contact in Outlook with a phone number, I'm prompted to enter a
Country/Region and an area code. However, the Country/Region dropdown is
blank and cannot be filled in. Unfortunately, this is a required field and
the dialog box cannot be Canceled. One must use Task Manager in order to end
the process.
I've also tried setting this in the Phone and Modem Options from within
Control Panel, but I get the same results.
During my research, I began to think this was due to the fact that I connect
my Motorola V3 cellular telephone to my PC (for transferring photos,
ringtones, etc). Windows sees this device as a USB modem. Thinking there
might be an issue with the V3 driver, I also manually installed a driver for
a "Standard 52000 bps Modem." This did nothing to fix the situation.
So at this point, I'm at a loss as to what the problem might be. This is a
fresh installation of WinXPSP2 with all of the appropriate drivers for my
devices. I know others have had this issue, but as far as I've found, there
is no solution (yet). I'm hoping that someone here has a solution.
All the Best,
Neil
