in find what does "folders not available" mean in OUTLOOK

Sometimes when I am using find to seek out all the emails and messages to and
from a sender, the advanced find box shows a message that says, "Outlook
cannot perform your search. Outlook cannot display this view. The folders
specified are not available."

Anyone know what this means and why it prevents assembling all the messages
from that person? thanks, John

I got the same problem. I use Outlook 2003 SP2. Any ideas out there?
Appreciate it.

One of our tech geeks just came up with the solution to this problem (don´t
know, tho, if this solution is indeed applicable to all problems creating
this error msg):

Make sure Outlook is not opened.

Go to the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\[your Windows user ID]\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Find the file named outlook.ost. This file is most likely corrupted. Rename
it to e.g. outlook_old.ost

Start Outlook.

It should start re-building the outlook.ost file. Outlook will say it is
configuring itself for first use because the outlook.ost file is not there.
It will create a new one. The whole process of rebuilding should take,
depending on the size of your local mailbox, a couple minutes to several
hours.

In case this is a solution for your specific problem, too, you will need to
do nothing else. Once Outlook has successfully recreated the outlook.ost
file, it will present itself in the way you are used to when you open
Outlook. You can the delete the outlook_old.ost file.

Cheers
Carl
