importing .pst file from home computer - Outlook 2003

I exported my contact folders from my home computer to a .pst file, burned it
to a cd and then brought it in to work to import.

When I try to import, it says I don't have permission? to import this file.

When you export is there a read-only or permission that needs to be set or
is that in the burning/copying of the data to the cd itself that is the
problem? If so, how do I fix this??

I need all of my contact directory to be at work also and the file is way
too large to do anything other than load to a CD, (well that my knowledge
allows for anyway).

thanks!! someone please help me!

Firstly NEVER use the export/import function to transfer data from one
Outlook to another. It's designed to transfer data to and from Outlook and a
non-Outlook application such as Excel or Access
When I try to import, it says I don't have permission? to import this
file.

Outlook needs read/write access to the pst file. CD ROM = CD Read Only
Memory
Copy the file to your HDD, do NOT overwrite any existing file. Remove the
Read-Only attribute if set. (Right-click, Properties)
Then in Outlook on the work machine, do File-Open-Outlook Data File and
navigate to where you copied it to. Then just copy the data you require to
your existing contacts.

In the future, when transferring data from one Outlook to another, just make
a copy of the pst file, when Outlook is closed.
