Importing Outlook

AIANDAS

Hi,
I am running Office 2007 and have a copy of Outlook Offline Folder which
came from Outlook 2003. How do I import that file, which is 875MB into
Outlook 2007? It is an OST file. Running XP SP3. Thank you.

You can't, of course. OST files can connect only to the mailbox from which
they are derived. It makes to sense to copy them to use elsewhere. That
requires a PST file.

So I am basically SOL on this one?
I odn't understand this. I see this massive file that's 875MB and you're
telling me that file is all gibberish? Nothing can decipher to import it into
something sensible?

Only by reconnecting to the Exchange account that created it, then
exporting into a pst file. AFAIK....

No, reconnect to the Exchange server and the ost-file will be automatically
recreated again.

ost-files are tied to the Exchange server account of the users. Break the
access to the Exchange server and you break the access to the cache file as
well (as it should) since otherwise you would be bypassing authentication
with no way to verify.

There are several recovery/hack tools though but those don't come cheap.
I've had good results with;

If you decide to order, use DNC-APME-HT to get a discount.

I see what you mean about being pricey, it's only 2.8MB in size yet it costs
over $200 even with the discount you sent me, thankfully.
OK I'll see if this is the way to go, but thanks all for your help.
