importing email message folders to Outlook or Outlook Express

I had a hard disk crash last week and had to reinstall everything on a new
disk!!
I have a back up of my Outlook Express 6 message folders on a back up CD
from the week before last. These message folders have names end ".dbx" Such
as "Clients.dbx".
I have followed the instructions on the Microsoft website but they do not
work. When I try to import these messages into my "clean" copy of Outlook
Express, using Import>from Store Folder> etc it just imports the recent few
emails as duplicates which have been downloaded since the new Outlook Express
has been installed.
I need to be able to read my backed up emails and import them. I don't mind
migrating to Outlook if I have to. But that has the same results.
Please Help:)

Outlook can't import it direct from files, it only imports from OE. Have
you asked over in microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general?
