Importing contacts

Trying to import fields from an Excel file (Office 2007, saved as a 2003 .xls
file) into Contacts in Outlook (Office Basic Edition, 2003). Outlook sends
messages:
1. “… cannot start the required translator … feature not currently
installed …. Install it now?â€
[YES]
2. “…cannot start the required translator … feature not available.â€
What can I do to enable this feature?

Not familiar with what features are or aren't included in any Office Basic
Edition so with that said...........

If you re-run your MS Office Basic install - using Add/Remove Options - are
import/export filter options available under Outlook? If yes, check the
option and install them. If not, you may not have the capability in Office
Basic and if that's the case, you may find ContactGenie Importer of
interest - http://www.contactgenie.com/cg20features.htm

A sidenote - if you're asked for your Office CD and you don't have it -
there is no way to get the import/export translators without it.
