import my outlook 2003 .pst contacts file into outlook 2007 trial.

I saved my contacts from Outlook 2003 into a .pst file. I no longer have the
PC I saved this from and have tried to import the file into Outlook 2000, but
kept getting errors....I understand that is because I did not save it as an
Outlook 2000 version file? I am now trying to save the contacts into Outlook
2007, which I have downloaded as a free trial from Microsoft for 90 days, but
it is not allowing me to click on import/export [it is greyed out on the
menu]....does anyone have any ideas how I can access my contacts without
having access to Outlook 2003 or the PC I saved my contacts from? Thanks!

Why are you trying to export? Exporting does not permit you to specify your
PST file type and it loses data.
You use File > New > Outlook Data file... to create the type of file you
want, then copy your data into it.

I exported because it was what I was told to do at the time by our IT contact
at work, who didn't have much experience with Outlook, but thought this was
the best way.
Unforunately I cannot do as you suggest [You use File > New > Outlook Data
file... to create the type of file you want, then copy your data into it] as
I no longer have the PC with my contacts on, just them (hopefully) saved into
a .pst file? Any ideas would be really helpful and appreciated, as I guess
the Outlook 2007 trial does not allow import/export. Thanks.

I don't understand your question. I already told you what to. You have your
PST file, right? Open it in Outlook. Then create another PST file in the
older format, and copy your data into it.

The Op hasn't got access to Outlook 2003 - he only has 2000.......

I have tried but it won't let me open anything as the option is greyed
out...I assume that's because I am on a trial version of Outlook 2007?
I will try and find a friend with a 2003 version of Outlook and open it as
you suggested, as there doesn't seem to be any other way around it!

Thanks for your help and sorry if my question upset you.

Trial versions are unsupported and we have no idea what features, if any,
they include. Apparently they include none. You will need to find a
functional version of either Outlook 2003 or 2007 to accomplish what you
need.
