import files from Outlook Express to Office Outlook 2007

I am trying to save all my files/saved e-mails from Outlook Express to a new
computer with Office Outlook 2007. Following the instructions in "Outlook
Help", I get to step #8 which reads "on the tools menu, click Options". #9
then reads "Click Maintenance tab". My Outlook Options menu has NO
Maintenance tab.

How do I import those old files from my old computer?

Then after I copy the message folder from Outlook Express, how do I open it
into Outlook?

Are you moving to a Vista computer or another XP machine? You will need to
move your OE data from the old computer into either OE or Windows Mail on
the new machine. When you have this accomplished, you can then transfer
everything into Outlook 2007.

I am moving from XP to Vista. I am trying to follow the directions in
Outlook Help, but they aren't giving me all the steps. I understand the
concept of what you are saying...but I need ALL of the steps?

OK, instructions for moving data from OE on XP to Windows Mail on Vista are
here:

http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx
Windows Mail

When you've finished that, use 'File|Export|Messages' from within Windows
Mail to transfer your email, then use 'File|Import and Export|Import
Internet Mail and Addresses' from within Outlook 2007 to transfer your
contacts.

I must be missing something here. I am trying to move messages from an old
computer with outlook express and windows xp, to a new machine with office
outlook 2007 and windows vista. I have been able to migrate the address
book, but am not able to move the messages. I can get them from the old
computer with OE, but not into the new computer with outlook 2007.

One of the suggestions is to open them to OE in the new computer then move
them, but I do not have OE on the new computer...and if I did I wouldn't have
paid the money to buy the outlook 2007 program.

I have copied the dbx files into the new computer where I can access
them...now how do I get them to Office Outlook 2007 so I can read them?

You import them to Windows Mail and then from there export the messages to
Outlook. For your address book, again, load it into Windows Mail, then use
Outlook to import the addresses from Windows Mail.

All of this information was helpful to me too, except that when I try to
import the .dbx files into Windows Mail, I receive a message that "no items
match your search". When I look at the folder in Explorer, it contains a
number of .dbx files. However, when when I open the folder to do the import,
none of those files is showning. The folder is on a backup drive.
Thank you for any help you cna provide me!

None of this has anything to do with Outlook. It has to do solely with
Windows Mail and Outlook Express. This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97, 98, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007 from the Office family for Intel PCs. For
Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in this newsgroup:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpresss

For Windows Mail:
microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:
