IMAP account is marking messages deleted after a single click

Hello,

Has anyone ever seen IMAP emails become marked for deletion after
clicking on them? I'll get a new email, click on it to bring it up in
the preview pane and as soon as the email is displayed in the preview
pane it's marked for deletion - I never told it to delete that email,
it just automatically decided that it should be deleted.

What's up with that? What setting am I missing?

Check for rules.

Then try these ideas: disable any mail scanning you have, like an antivirus
or -spam program. Create a new mail profile and redefine your IMAP account
in the new profile.
