Image files are blurry

On my PC my image files have become blurry and somewhat distorted. They are
still visible but they look smudged. Even down below on my taskbar the icons
are distorted and don't look proper. But when I go onto the internet and I
see images on sites they aren't affected. Does someone know what is wrong or
is it something I have to deal with.

Hi,

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll

If the above doesn't help and should, run the edit on line 4 and/or:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/Advanced. Use the Item
dropbox and select Caption Buttons. Try setting it to 25.

If this doesn't help, set the Theme back to XP default, then modify.

Other options to consider if needed:

To clear and reset icon cache:

Right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/Advanced. Use the Item
drop box and select Icon. Change the pixel number by one. Ok your way
out.

Increase Icon Cache (Line 121)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Add Icon Cache Size to Folder Options/View (Line 166)

Is this thumbnails in a Thumbnail view? If so it is probably (oddly)
because the quality for them is set too high. Use TweakUI - one of the
XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP
Its Explorer Thumbnails page, reduce the slider to about two thirds from
left

Second - a check in a run of regedit.exe Open to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics
and in the right pane double click on Shell Icon BPP and make sure it is
set to 16
