images in IE 6 are blurry, text is crisp

hi all,

I just got a new Dell 600 M laptop with1400 by 1050 resolution and I'm
finding that graphics and images in IE are displaying as blurry or fuzzy. For
example on the MSNBC.com website, the headline image is readable, but blurry
- straight letters are blurred on their edges. The same thing with the MSN
and MSNBC logos - very blurry. The text however is quite crisp, the way I
expect it to look. This appears to only be a problem in IE, images in other
programs and icons are quite crisp. I've compared the settings to my old
laptop, and they appear to be the same (old laptop has same resolution,
slightly older version of IE 6.0 and did not have XP SP1 or SP2 applied).
Would appreciate any thoughts - I can live with this, but it's a little
annoying. thanks!

If you are using any accelerator supplied by your ISP try turning it off.

Don/Frank,

thank you both so much for your replies - it was the DPI setting - it was
set to 120 and once I changed it back to 96, all was well. Not only did it
solve the IE issue, but it also solved another problem with my website
appearance in Frontpage 2003 on the new computer. My site uses and tables and
images dictated at the pixel level and none of my pages/images "looked" right
on the new computer. Changing the DPI got everything back in synch. Thanks
again, I really appreciate the quick, easy responses with such clear
directions.
